Committees meet

The committees met for the first time on Tuesday 17 November. Although the time difference between Verona and Espoo is eight hours, the students took an active part in the discussion. All committees got their work started.

Teachers comment:

The Distance Learning Committee has also launched the project successfully today.

At first, the students introduced themselves, and we all shared our ideas in distance learning and teaching, as well. We used Padlet application for brainstorming the pros and cons of distant learning, and the discussion was very lively. We even started to write our first ideas of the current state of affairs on the template.

I was delighted at how students worked and took part in the discussion. At the end of our meeting, the students decided to set up a Snapchat or Whatsapp to get to know each other better.

Committee on carbon neutrality and circular economy

After some brainstorming, we decided to concentrate on the future of cities and how we can make them more sustainable. Committee will make recommendations about recycling, traffic, healthy food. We will also take on consideration how education will make a change to sustainable cities easier. Even urbanisation is the megatrend the committee don't want that people alienate from nature.

Carbon neutrality is such a vast topic that I was more than pleased that the students find the focus for our work.

Committee on transatlantic affairs

Our committee on Europe and the US lasted about 45 minutes today, and it went very well.  Students introduced themselves and shared how the school systems are structured in each country.  They also talked about learning languages and the cost of university.

For next week, they are going to collaborate on the vision for the committee and begin sharing what the current state of affairs is like for each country.
